Scandinavian-Inspired Walthamstow Kitchen Design

Studio Milne transformed this compact Walthamstow kitchen into a light-filled, modern family space with a calm and minimal aesthetic. Designed for a young family, the brief was to create a functional and inviting kitchen that blended Scandi style with practical living.

Working within a limited footprint, bespoke birch plywood cabinetry was installed throughout to maximise storage without overwhelming the space. A central island includes neatly integrated drawers and cupboards, while a wall of concealed appliances ensures a streamlined, clutter-free environment. Open shelving offers both display and storage for glassware and plants, enhanced by soft LED mood lighting.

The neutral palette combines Nordic Beach herringbone flooring with Farrow & Ball’s ‘School House White’ walls, creating a soft, airy atmosphere. Seamless connection to the garden is achieved through UltraSlim retractable sliding doors, allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to flow effortlessly.

Personal details like record storage, bespoke shelving for keepsakes, and a built-in bench seat, add warmth and character. This modern kitchen design perfectly balances beauty and function, providing a serene heart of the home for everyday family life.
